New Season’s Mobile Treatment Unit in Greensboro

Grace here with Mission Mobile Medical, and we’re out with Matt doing a delivery. Matt, could you tell us a little bit about yourself and what we’re doing here?

I’m Matt Ruffner, the senior regional director for New Season in the Carolina region. We just got our new mobile unit delivered. We’re really excited about serving this community, getting out in Greensboro and really just taking care of our patients.

What’s so special about this unit in particular?

This is a medication-assisted treatment unit. What this is going to do is allow us to get out into unserved populations and underserved populations and help our patients, or future patients, who need service for opioid treatment. One of the special things about our unit is it’s a two-window unit. We can actually serve two patients at one time if needed. We can do inductions on the road. We can do everything to set up and take care of our patients.

That’s really incredible. Is this common in North Carolina? What’s your experience with mobile methadone treatment clinics?

This is a new thing that we’re very thankful for. With the changes in the federal regulations last year, it opened up a lot of doors to be able to serve in this way. We will be the second unit that’s up and running in North Carolina. The first unit, I believe, is in the Raleigh area, not with our company, but with another service provider. We’re thankful that they’re out serving that community also. This is going to be the first one here in the Triad.

That’s super exciting. If you could say one thing to your community, what would it be?

Greensboro, we’re here to serve. We’re coming out to you and to try to help take care of you where you’re at. Keep an eye out for our mobile clinic. You won’t miss it. It’s beautiful, bright green and blue. We’re here to serve the community and help you where you need.
