Statewide event will bring together healthcare organizations to share practical lessons about starting, operating, and sustaining mobile health programs

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., September 29, 2026. Mission Mobile Medical will host the Michigan Mobile Healthcare Roundtable on Tuesday, October 20, at the Hagerty Center at Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City.

The free event is open to community health centers, hospitals, community based organizations, and others operating mobile health programs or considering whether mobile care is right for their communities.

Northern Michigan communities face some of the longest travel distances to care in the state, and a growing number of organizations are using mobile clinics to close that gap. The roundtable brings those organizations together to compare approaches.

Participants will discuss the practical questions that determine whether a mobile health program can serve its community over time, including:

  • How to decide whether mobile care is the right approach
  • What it takes to start or expand a program
  • Which medical, dental, and behavioral health services to provide
  • How to fund and sustain a program
  • How to recruit and retain the staff needed to deliver care

"Michigan organizations are finding different ways to bring care closer to the people they serve," said Mollie Williams, DrPH, MPH, Vice President of Evidence and Insights at Mission Mobile Medical. "This roundtable gives them a place to compare what is working, talk honestly about what is difficult, and learn from others doing the work."

The roundtable will follow an "All Teach. All Learn." format. Participants will bring their own experience, questions, and local knowledge to the discussion. The event is designed for established programs as well as organizations still evaluating the model.
