South Carolina has mobile-specific requirements for both dental and medical care.
Dental
Mobile-specific requirements identifiedMobile dental facilities and portable dental operations must register unless an exemption applies; the current regulation covers emergency/patient-of-record exceptions, sale/change rules, follow-up, records, fees, and inspections, and the application lists supporting requirements. Regulation 39-18(B) exempts federal, state, and local governmental agencies and federally qualified health centers from that regulation. It also allows emergency treatment of a dentist’s patients of record without mobile registration.
For covered operations, each clinic or portable operation must register and pass the required inspection. Mobile facilities are inspected annually on renewal; portable operations generally require the initial inspection and further inspection after substantial changes.

Mobile-specific requirements identifiedSouth Carolina’s freestanding or mobile technology category is governed by Regulation 60-108. This is a service-specific facility category. Ask the Department of Public Health whether the proposed diagnostic or treatment services require licensing or certificate-of-need approval.
