Kentucky has mobile-specific requirements for both dental and medical care.
Dental
Mobile-specific requirements identified201 KAR 8:601 requires registration for covered mobile dental facilities and portable dental operations. Registrations expire December 31 of even-numbered years. The rule exempts specified public health programs from its requirements; exclusively charitable practices qualify for fee relief but still register.
Unless the Board grants an accommodation, maintain a signed emergency and follow-up agreement with a general or pediatric dental office within 70 miles of the treatment location. Keep records and reliable communications, provide post-visit information and referral details, and obtain the specified parental consent for minors. Check the current fee schedule under 201 KAR 8:520 before filing.

Medical
Mobile-specific requirements identifiedKRS 216B.020(3)(f) exempts outpatient mobile health services from certificate of need and licensure unless they provide a State Health Plan service. Subsection (4) limits the exemptions, including specified services and expenditures exceeding the major medical expenditure minimum. The provision therefore cannot support a blanket statement that mobile medical services are unregulated.
Review the proposed services and equipment with the Cabinet; freestanding or mobile technology may follow a separate pathway.
