Why this matters

Health systems, nursing schools, and policymakers considering nurse-led mobile care need to weigh its role in access and workforce sustainability. This commentary describes nurse-led mobile and other care models as practical, scalable approaches that bring services to rural and underserved communities while supporting the nursing workforce.

Abstract

Models of care such as mobile health programs led by nurses bring care directly to communities, improving access and outcomes. These models demonstrate the full value of nursing, support workforce sustainability, and offer practical and scalable solutions to health care challenges, particularly in rural and underserved populations.
