Abstract

Access to healthcare remains a major issue in the US, particularly in rural communities. This project explored characteristics of existing pharmacist-driven MHCs through semi-structured interviews with 16 participants from 10 programs. Six subthemes were identified related to program logistics: programs exist to increase access to care; programs have an awareness of scope/role; programs identify and meet community needs; programs meet patients' needs; programs have a small staff with large volunteer-base; and programs have a three-step clinical workflow.
