Autonomous mobile clinics

Abstract
This editorial discusses autonomous mobile clinics as an emerging technology for healthcare delivery in hard-to-reach populations. The clinics use artificial intelligence for disease screening and basic diagnostics, provide point-of-care testing including ultrasound and medical imaging, offer telemedicine connectivity with remote doctors, and manage electronic health records. The authors propose deploying these clinics in least developed countries to address inequitable access to health services. A pilot initiative by the United Nations Technology Bank targets remote and rural landscapes in low-income countries. The editorial argues that autonomous mobile clinics can help achieve universal health coverage, reduce healthcare costs through AI-driven efficiency, provide crisis response capability during disease outbreaks, and reduce healthcare inequities through global telemedicine connections.
