How RHIhub Connects FQHC's to Grant Opportunities

How RHIhub Connects FQHC's to Grant Opportunities

Rural communities in the United States often have limited access to healthcare, which poses a significant challenge to the well-being of their population. A majority of the rural areas are served by Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs), which work tirelessly to improve the health of their communities despite financial constraints. Rural Health Information Hub (RHIhub) recognizes the challenges faced by these health centers and offers and features various grants to support them in their mission. This blog post will discuss the types of grants that RHIhub features to FQHCs to support their efforts to improve health in rural communities.

While some or all of these may have passed their application deadline, don't fear! These represent some of the most well known/funded grants serving the greatest needs, and so they can often been reopened later down the line. Keep your eye out!

1. Rural Communities Opioid Response Program Planning Grants

One featured grant Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) is aimed at reducing the opioid epidemic in rural America. The program provides Planning Grants to FQHCs to support their efforts in planning and developing their strategies to address opioid use disorders in their communities. The funding can be used for developing infrastructure, building partnerships, and improving opioid treatment services.

2. Rural Health Care Coordination Program Grant

FQHCs that apply for the Rural Health Care Coordination Program Grant are striving to improve the coordination and delivery of healthcare services in their communities. The program supports these health centers in developing and implementing innovative and effective ways to coordinate care and improve patient outcomes in rural areas.

3. Rural Health Innovation and Transformation Technical Assistance

The Rural Health Innovation and Transformation Technical Assistance (RHIT-TA) supports FQHCs that are at the forefront of developing innovative models to improve the healthcare system in their communities. The program provides technical assistance to health centers that are innovating in areas such as value-based care, population health management, and healthcare technology.

4. Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant Program

The Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant Program (RHND) provides funding to FQHCs that are working towards developing rural healthcare networks to improve the delivery of healthcare services in their communities. The program offers resources for planning, developing partnerships, and building the infrastructure necessary for successful healthcare networks in rural areas.

5. Small Health Care Provider Quality Improvement Grant Program

The Small Health Care Provider Quality Improvement (SHCPQI) Grant Program supports FQHCs that are working to improve quality in their healthcare services in rural communities. The program offers funding to support initiatives geared towards improving patient care, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction.

In conclusion, Rural Health Information Hub offers a range of grants that FQHCs can take advantage of to improve their capacity to serve the health care needs of rural communities. These grants can help FQHCs to expand their services, establish partnerships with other health care providers, improve coordination of care, conduct research that meets the specific needs of rural populations, and evaluate the effectiveness of outreach activities. By leveraging these grants and resources, FQHCs can continue to play a critical role in ensuring that individuals in rural communities receive the care they need to lead healthy and fulfilling lives.
