Updated September 17, 2026: The application window for this grant is closed. This article remains available as a historical summary of the 2025 opportunity and does not describe a current funding opportunity.
What the grant supported
Manatee County offered the 2025 Opioid Impact Grant to help local organizations expand or create programs addressing the effects of the opioid epidemic. The county gave priority to proposals aligned with the Florida Opioid Allocation and Statewide Response Agreement and its approved funding priorities.
Funding source
Florida took legal action against opioid manufacturers and distributors in 2018. Manatee County was set to receive $43 million in regional abatement funds over 18 years as a result of the litigation. The county designated those funds for programs addressing substance use and mental health needs in the community.
2025 eligibility
Eligible applicants included Manatee County Government divisions, municipal and local governments within the county, and qualifying nonprofit corporations. Nonprofit applicants had to be incorporated in Florida and classified as 501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6) organizations.
2025 application timeline
Completed applications and supporting documents were due to the Manatee County Health Services Division by 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 2025. The former application forms, scoring documents, email submission instructions, and apply links have been removed from this page because they no longer lead to an active opportunity.
Organizations interested in future opioid settlement funding should rely on current announcements from Manatee County rather than the 2025 instructions summarized here.
